| a. Nature and Man’s Relationship to Natural World |
- Nature is the whole of the physical world and what exists outside of any human action. Man is in nature and should interact with nature in a harmonious way. Man should respect nature and can utilize it but not “defeat” or
"conquer” it. In addition man has a responsibility to protect and safeguard nature.
Islam teaches that humans are stewards (khalifah) of the Earth, responsible for protecting and preserving the natural
world.
- The Quran emphasizes the signs of Allah in nature and encourages reflection on the environment as a means of understanding His greatness. Sustainable practices, conservation, and respect for all living creatures are integral to
this stewardship. By fostering a harmonious relationship with the natural world, Muslims fulfill their duty to Allah, ensuring the well-being of the environment for future generations and demonstrating gratitude for the blessings
of creation.
